A job to die for!
In the past few days when I haven’t been dragged to the mountain, I have spent some time at the employment office in Banff in search of a job. Yep, that’s right folks aK is looking to earn some cold hard cash. The initial plans of working as a gigolo haven’t blossomed. The sales projections fell far (I mean damn far) below the earnings.
I had an interview with RK Heli Skiing (http://www.rkheliski.com) the other day and now I’m anxiously waiting for their call to say that I got it. Actually I’ve been waiting 2 days now and I’m getting really worried. If you’re reading this, include a prayer for me to get this job and I promise I will try and score you a good heli skiing deal. Cross my snowboard and hope to huck a 50ft drop! One of the perks of this position is that employees are allowed to ski for FREE if the chopper is not full. Yep, FREE! Thinking about it now just makes my heart race.
Aside from the RK Heli Ski, I’ve also applied for retail positions at GAP and ROOTS (No, this isn’t a revamped or remarketed name of my initial plans, it’s a real store, honest!). They seem like nice stores to work in, but they aren’t really related to the snow industry nor have any nice perks.
It hasn’t snowed and it’s been rather warm. Today was a blistering -3C (on the hill) and +1C (in town). My legs are really, really, really tired from all the riding we have been doing.
Wildlife that I've seen thus far:
- Mountain goats.
- A wolf, or was it a stray black dog.
- An Elk which must have been the size of Giz's head. Okay, maybe not that big, but it was massive. Photos to be added very soon (of the Elk, not Giz's head).
- Snowbunnies.
